Step-Up Independent Living Skills (ILS) is a program designed for individuals with learning disabilities to provide instruction and advocacy for each client to become as independent as possible. We are a service oriented to the unique needs of individuals with different learning abilities and styles who are not eligible or appropriate for typical services provided through the developmental disabilities or Regional Center system. Our services grew out of an identified need for instructional services to improve the lives of persons with learning disabilities.
As a member of Step Up’s Independent Living Skills program each client will receive the following:
-
Assessment of Individual Needs
The client will work with Step Up ILS staff to develop the plan for the skills they need to live a productive life in their home and community. We will look at the individual, unique learning styles and needs when designing our tailored ILS Assessment and Plan. Our ILS instructors will reassess periodically to adjust benchmarks of progress, individual needs and goal setting.
-
Quarterly Progress Reports
Each client will have a report prepared to direct the client and their ILS Instructor so that each session will be the most productive. Step Up’s ILS instructors track progress and record any observed barriers to meeting these goals. The Initial ILS Assessment guides the process for the year and keeping the client and the ILS Instructor on target.
-
Resource and Referral
Our experienced staff will assist with linking clients to various community resources to meet the myriad of unique needs of those with learning disabilities.
